| Review: | "The
birding trip to Muyil and vicinity was the high
point of my trip to Mexico. (I added 15 birds to my life list!) Our
guide, Alberto, was just incredible. My mother is a very experienced
birder and even she was impressed. Alberto excelled in spotting and
identifying the small and fast moving birds we encountered and his
ability to identify birds by call was amazing. He was also quick to
move us to a different location when the archaeological site was not
proving very productive that day (it was very windy and it was hard to
see the birds in the tall trees).
I chose this tour for a couple of reasons. For one thing, it was the only tour I could find which was completely focused on birding and did not add things we did not want to do. Neither my husband nor my mother wanted to swim or snorkel and many tours included these features. But the main thing which caught my attention was the community aspect of this organization -- the fact that they are employing the local Mayan people to teach others about their natural heritage and that they are committed to maintaining their precious environment.
